Description

“The Family of Man” comprises 503 photographs contributed by 273 artists from 68 countries, curated by Edward Steichen for the MoMA. Originally unveiled in 1955, the exhibition aimed to articulate a message of peace and universal human equality through post-war humanist photography.

Following an extensive global tour encompassing over 150 museums, the definitive and comprehensive iteration of the exhibition found its permanent home at Clervaux Castle in 1994. Recognizing its cultural significance, “The Family of Man” was inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register in 2003.
